Rental apartments in Valencia
Obviously, the first thing you need to worry about when moving to Valencia is finding suitable housing. Finding an affordable furnished rental apartment for a long(er) stay in Valencia is not easy. The rental market in Valencia, as in many other big cities in Europe, has changed a lot in the last decade. Basically, there are 3 types of rentals.
Traditional rentals
On the one hand, there is the traditional rental market: Traditional real estate agencies will show you (ugly) pictures of empty (usually very large) apartments, at very low prices. 500€ per month for a 3 bedroom apartment in the centre of Valencia is what they all seem to offer. But these are not the deals you are looking for. 500€ turns out to be 800€ + real estate commission + a commitment + going through the hassle of contracting wifi, water, electricity, etc. These apartments are not interesting for people who are looking for a temporary apartment in Valencia, because it´s way too complicated.
Holiday rentals
On the other hand, there are the Valencian Airbnb’s, and other holiday rentals. Airbnb and friends have drastically changed the offer of rentals in Valencia. There are now hundreds of vacation rental apartments in Valencia, fully furnished and nicely decorated. Clever apartment owners know that they can earn ridiculous money if they rent out their apartment to tourists during Fallas, Semana Santa and summer. They publish their apartment on Airbnb or use a local holiday rental agency. These apartments are not interesting for people who want to live in Valencia for a while, due to getting way too expensive.
Expat rentals
Situated between the traditional rentals and holiday rentals are the Globexs rentals. Globexs offers more than 50 rentals in Valencia that are suitable and available for medium-long stays: They are fully furnished and ready to move in. All expenses are included in the rental price, so you do not have to worry about wifi, water, electricity and other bills. And most importantly: You do not pay a ridiculous rental fee if your stay happens to include Fallas or the month of August.
Legal immigration assistance
Even if you are a European citizen moving to Spain it won´t be so easy. Basically, you need 2 things: a lawyer that can guide you through the process and a lot of patience. Getting an NIE number, getting your «empadronamiento» or residency done, opening a bank account, getting your driving license, etc. Especially if your Spanish is not very good you will drown in the paperwork and get very frustrated over the Spanish bureaucracy.
Make an appointment with Tiscar Navarro, the Globexs immigration lawyer, and she will guide you through the process.
