The neighborhood of Deusto is known as a student area, as it is home to the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of the Basque Country, the Official School of Languages and, especially, the University of Deusto, as well as several schools. The neighborhood has two libraries that are part of the municipal network: the Deusto and San Ignacio libraries. Both are located on the main artery of the district, Lehendakari Aguirre Avenue, and between them there are almost 40,000 documents, including books, periodicals and audiovisual material.
There is also the library of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of the Basque Country.
Deusto has two sports complexes in San Pedro de Deusto-La Ribera and San Ignacio-Elorrieta. The first – the so-called Deusto Sports Center – is located opposite the Euskalduna Bridge and has a gymnasium area, an indoor pavilion, a grass sports court, sauna and squash court.
The San Ignacio sports center has an artificial grass soccer field, as well as tennis courts, gymnasiums, fronton courts and a ballet hall.
It is a neighborhood very well connected by
BUS: The city bus service, Bilbobus, mainly connects the district with the city center, although it also runs to other peripheral neighborhoods. For its part, Bizkaibus, the bus service of the province of Vizcaya, has frequent lines and numerous stops in the district, mainly those lines that depart from Abando to go to the municipalities of Munguialdea, Margen derecha and the Leioa campus of the University of the Basque Country.
