Location details of this apartment for rent in Cantabria

This apartment for rent in Cantabria is located in Laredo. Laredo is known for its fantastic beach, Playa de la Salve. It wraps around in a 5km long curve and Laredo sits on the edge of a sheltered inlet. From the beach, you can see the hills of Santona that are covered in trees on the other side. This is an amazing view and one of the reasons why Laredo has become one of northern Spain’s most popular holiday resort area.

At one side of the beach, you can find the picturesque port of Laredo which has a very photogenic picture with all the small boats bopping around. On the other end, you some more rocky land to make the beach sheltered.

Laredo also has a very attractive and medieval city center called Pueblo Vieja. Here you can find some of the original defensive walls that protected the city many centuries ago. Originally, these walls were built to fend off pirate attacks. The narrow streets of the medieval center are paved with houses that were built between the 16th and 18th century making Laredo an Instagram heaven. Many of these houses have the typical balconies that you can find around the province of Cantabria.

As per European tradition, all the streets lead to the church, in this case, the 13th-century of Santa Maria de la Asuncion. Inside, you can admire some of the most beautiful statues as well as the magnificent Flemish Altar.

The last Friday of August, Laredo celebrates the Battle of the Flowers fiesta. Large floats decorated entirely in flowers lead a procession through town. At the end of the festival, a giant sardine is buried on the beach. Laredo has a good selection of hotels, bars and restaurants, and a lively night scene.

The province of Cantabria

The province of Cantabria is located in northern Spain. Santander, the capital of Cantabria, is a short drive away from Laredo. Cantabria is recognized as a historic community and is bordered on the east by the Basque Country, one of Spain culinary capitals

Cantabria belongs to Green Spain, the name given to the strip of land between the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabrian Mountains, so-called because of its particularly lush vegetation, due to the wet and moderate oceanic climate. The climate is strongly influenced by Atlantic Ocean winds trapped by the mountains.
