Getxo 1 - Expat beach apartment near Bilbao

Getxo is a municipality sitting on the right side of the Bilbao River, just next to the mouth of the Ibaizabal-Nervion. A tour by the suspension bridge is, without doubt, a must. It was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO all through until its Old Town, where one may perceive the marine past that still endures. Strolling through Las Arenas Beach up until Puerto Deportivo will allow us to see the most astonishing palaces from the 19th century, as it was the residential are where the industrial bourgeois community of Bilbao used to live.​

Transportation

It is possible to travel to Getxo from Bilbao using the city´s modern underground Metro Bilbao, which has 6 stations along the neighborhoods. Getxo is also accessible from Portugalete, by means of both the Vizcaya Bridge transporter bridge and the regular fluvial transport over the Estuary of Bilbao. The Bilbao Airport in Loiu is twenty minutes away from Getxo´s town centre.
