GoSpain Program: A Legal Pathway to Live, Study & Work in Spain for Non-EU Citizens

Every year, thousands of non-EU citizens dream of building a life in Spain. The weather, the culture, the quality of life — it all sounds perfect until they hit the wall of Spanish immigration requirements. The Non-Lucrative Visa demands proof of around €28,800 per year in passive income. The Digital Nomad Visa requires a minimum monthly income of approximately €2,852 (as of 2026). Finding a Spanish employer willing to sponsor a work permit? Extremely difficult without local connections. And the Golden Visa through real estate investment? That program ended in 2025.

So what options are left?

At Globexs, we spent over two decades helping expats relocate to Spain. We know the system inside out — and we know there is a legal, structured, and surprisingly accessible pathway that most people overlook: the study permit (Autorización de Estancia por Estudios Superiores).

That is exactly what the GoSpain Program is built around.

What Is the GoSpain Program?

The GoSpain Program is a complete, all-in-one relocation package designed specifically for non-EU citizens who want to live legally in Spain but do not qualify for standard visa categories. It combines a 10-month accredited Spanish language course with full legal services, verified housing, health insurance coordination, and ongoing support — all managed by Globexs.

The foundation of the program is Spain's study permit, a well-established legal mechanism under Spanish immigration law. This permit allows non-EU nationals to reside in Spain for the duration of their studies, work up to 30 hours per week (employed or freelance), and after one year, apply to modify their status to a full residence and work permit — without leaving Spain.

This is not a workaround. It is not a loophole. It is a legal strategy fully aligned with current Spanish immigration legislation, including the updated Reglamento de Extranjería (RLOEX) that came into force on May 20, 2025.

How Does the Study Permit Work?

Spain's Autorización de Estancia por Estudios Superiores is designed for non-EU citizens who wish to stay in Spain for more than 90 days to pursue accredited higher education or language studies. Under the 2025 regulatory reform, language courses delivered by university language centers are now officially recognized as higher education — which means studying Spanish at an accredited institution qualifies you for this permit.

Here is what the permit allows:

Legal residence in Spain for the duration of your studies. Work authorization up to 30 hours per week, either as an employee or freelancer, provided the work is compatible with your studies. The right to apply from abroad or, in many cases, directly from within Spain (within the first 60 days of legal stay in the Schengen area). Family members can accompany you during the study period, provided you can demonstrate financial means and accommodation. Conversion to a full residence and work permit after completing at least one year of studies, under specified conditions — without needing to leave Spain.

The financial requirements are significantly lower than other visa categories. You need to demonstrate resources equivalent to 100% of the IPREM (Indicador Público de Renta de Efectos Múltiples), which is approximately €600 per month in 2025/2026. Compare that to the Digital Nomad Visa's requirement of approximately €2,852 per month or the Non-Lucrative Visa's €28,800 per year.

Why Globexs Recommends a 10-Month Program

While the minimum duration for a TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero — the physical identity card for foreigners in Spain) is six months, Globexs strongly recommends a 10-month program of 45 weeks. There are four important reasons for this.

First, legal stability. A longer program provides a solid legal foundation and reduces the risk of complications. Second, you avoid renewal complexity. A shorter program might require extension, which introduces uncertainty and additional paperwork. Third, work permit alignment. A 10-month program aligns more naturally with the one-year threshold needed to modify your status to a full residence and work permit. Fourth, realistic integration. Ten months gives you meaningful time to learn the language, establish professional connections, and settle into life in Spain.

What Studies Qualify?

Not all language courses meet the requirements. The studies must be:

In-person — online and hybrid programs do not qualify. A minimum of 20 hours per week of classroom instruction. Delivered by accredited institutions — specifically, university language centers, Instituto Cervantes accredited schools, Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas (EOI), or nationally recognized educational institutions.

One important restriction: this pathway is not available to citizens of native Spanish-speaking countries, since the immigration authorities require that the language studied be different from the applicant's native language or the official language of their country.

Globexs works exclusively with educational providers that meet all current requirements set by Spanish immigration authorities.

What Is Included in the GoSpain Program?

The GoSpain Program is designed to be genuinely all-inclusive. One program, one contract, one team managing everything:

Full legal services — eligibility assessment, application preparation, submission, and follow-up for your study permit. Course enrollment — registration in an accredited in-person Spanish language program (20 hours per week, 45 weeks). Accommodation — a verified rental with a valid contract accepted by immigration authorities. This is critical — immigration offices require proof of adequate housing, and Globexs, with over 20 years of experience in expat housing, ensures the contract meets all legal standards. Health insurance coordination — arrangement of the mandatory health insurance required for the visa application. Certified translations — sworn translations of all required documents. Ongoing support — continuous legal and practical assistance throughout your entire stay in Spain.

Pricing: Transparent and All-Inclusive

Globexs offers two packages:

Shared Apartment (private room in a shared flat): €6,000 for the first month, which includes the complete visa process, 10-month language course, and first month's rent. From month 2 onward, the rent is €500 per month.

Private Apartment: €6,800 for the first month (same inclusions), then €1,300 per month from month 2.

All prices include VAT. There are no hidden fees.

The Path to Permanent Residency

This is where the GoSpain Program becomes truly powerful. It is not just about studying Spanish — it is a strategic first step toward long-term life in Spain.

After successfully completing at least one year of studies, you may apply to modify your study permit into a full residence and work permit. Under the updated regulations, if the study period exceeds one year, you may be eligible for a four-year residence permit directly. You do not need to leave Spain to make this transition.

From there, the path continues: after five years of continuous legal residence (spending at least 183 days per year in Spain), you can apply for permanent residency. After ten years, Spanish citizenship becomes available through naturalization.

Why Choose Globexs for This?

Globexs is not a visa agency. We are a full-service relocation company that has been helping expats move to Spain since 2002. Our team includes immigration lawyers, multilingual coordinators, and housing specialists — all based in Valencia.

Here is what makes the difference: we handle the legal process, the housing, the course enrollment, the insurance, and the translations — as a single integrated service. You do not need to coordinate between a visa lawyer, a language school, a real estate agency, and a translation service. Globexs is your single point of contact for the entire relocation.

With over 20 years of experience and thousands of successful relocations, we understand exactly what immigration authorities require, what can go wrong, and how to prevent it.

Is the GoSpain Program Right for You?

This program is ideal for non-EU citizens who want to live in Spain legally but do not meet the financial requirements of the Digital Nomad Visa or Non-Lucrative Visa, cannot find employer sponsorship for a work permit, do not have a qualifying business for the Self-Employed Visa, and want a structured, transparent, and legal pathway with professional support.

If that sounds like your situation, book a consultation with our team and let's explore your options.
