In terms of volume, the Port of Antwerp is Europe’s second-largest seaport, after Rotterdam. However, in terms of area, Antwerp is the biggest port area in the world with a surface of 12,068 hectares, or about 20,000 football fields. 150.000 people work at the port, the majority for the over 900 private companies. The Antwerp Port Authority has 1650 employees.
