Globexs has partnered with Desert Leaves, a Spanish NGO specializing in reforestation in dryland areas, to carry out its 2024 carbon offset project. Located in Pego, Alicante, this project will see the planting of 115 trees, covering an area of approximately 1,150 square meters. These trees are expected to absorb 17 tons of CO₂ over 40 years, effectively neutralizing Globexs’ carbon footprint for 2023.
Desert Leaves’ role in this partnership includes full project management, from land preparation to ongoing tree maintenance, ensuring that each tree survives and contributes to the company’s long-term sustainability goals.

The reforestation project involves the planting of 115 trees in Pego, located in the dryland region of Alicante. Dryland reforestation is essential in regions like Pego, where vegetation is sparse, and soil erosion is a significant concern. Each tree, primarily almez trees (Celtis australis), is expected to absorb approximately 425 kg of CO₂ annually, providing a total offset of 17 tons over a 40-year period.

Desert Leaves conducted an in-depth analysis of Globexs’ carbon emissions for 2023, resulting in an estimated 17 tons of CO₂ emissions. The company’s footprint was measured across three scopes:
Scope 1: Direct emissions from company vehicles.
Scope 2: Indirect emissions from electricity use in office spaces.
Scope 3: Indirect emissions related to business travel and employee commutes.
This comprehensive approach provided a clear picture of Globexs’ environmental impact and helped determine the number of trees needed to achieve carbon neutrality. Planting 115 trees will offset the emissions over the next 40 years, establishing Globexs as a responsible corporate citizen committed to ecological integrity.
Each of the 115 trees planted through this project will bring lasting environmental benefits, including:
CO₂ Sequestration: Each tree will absorb around 425 kg of CO₂ annually, significantly reducing greenhouse gas levels.
